Loki Breakfast Top 8's South German Legacy Event

The top two players from the final South German Legacy event earned invites to the European Legacy Masters. Although Alexander Maier did not score one of those top slots in this event on June 21, 2026, they did accomplish something much cooler: a new way of serving Breakfast!

Maier's build featured a full playset of {Loki, God of Mischief}, which made waves when first spoiled for potentially reviving Cephalid Breakfast after the banning of {Nadu, Winged Wisdom}. While I speculated about using {Karakas} as a way to trigger and protect {Loki, God of Mischief} and {Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student}, Maier used old Legends favorite {Tolaria} as a way to trigger {Loki, God of Mischief} without diluting the number of [u]-producing lands.

Finally, a maindeckable answer to all the banding plaguing Legacy!

Many of the card choices in this list are nods to support {Loki, God of Mischief}, including the {Relic of Progenitus}, which is a recurable way of drawing cards — something the more-often played {Soul-Guide Lantern} doesn't provide as well.

{Mishra's Bauble} is also not a commonly seen card in Breakfast strategies, but {Loki, God of Mischief} turns it into a [0]-mana draw two.

Notable cuts are one fewer {Urza's Saga} than typical, and the absence of {Cavern of Souls} in the 75.

While {Loki, God of Mischief} was worth getting excited over, I'd argue that {Tolaria} seeing legitimate Legacy play might be the better headline.
