The third edition of the Legacy Black Border Boomers (BBB) Challenge occurred on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026, and the organizers prepared some nice rewards.
I decided to try my chances with Tempo after not having played paper games in a year. I had to make some upgrades. After several days of brainstorming with friends, I played this:

There were 42 players, so we played 6 rounds plus a top 8.
Round One vs Doomsday
Game One
After my opponent played Underground Sea into Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student, I thought it was the mirror, but on turn two, when he cast Lotus Petal, I was sure it was Doomsday.
I was lucky to have cast a pair of Nethergoyfs; they were both 3/4 to close the game fast enough.
Game Two
I kept a hand with three Force of Wills and a few blue cards. I countered and killed some creatures they sideboarded in. After casting Thoughtseize and saw two Doomsdays, I decided to discard removal and cast Netheroyf.
He cast Doomsday, dropping to 10 life. Next turn, I attacked for 5, holding Consign to Memory that I could replicate twice. It was enough to counter Thassa’s Oracle's trigger.

Game One
The first game was fast; two Nethergoyfs did their job.
Games Two & Three
In the second and third games, my opponent's draws were very good. He drew more creatures than I had removal.

Round Three vs Show and Tell
Game One
I don't remember exactly how the games went, but first he comboed quickly: Third turn Show and Tell with Veil of Summer protection and put in an Omniscience into Emrakul, the Aeons Torn.
Game Two
It was fast with Netheroyf and Barrowgoyf.
Game Three
My deck failed. Drew so many lands that I didn't have targets for my fetches.

Stormchaser's Talent by Christina Kraus
Round Four vs aggro
It was my opponent's first tournament. I was still learning his deck; a new (at least for me) iteration of with Stormchaser's Talent.
Games were fun. I helped him understand how the deck works, and he still won both games.

Round Five vs Dredge
Game One
Opponent's draw was too fast, creating nine 2/2 Zombie tokens plus Ox of Agonas.
Game Two
I kept a weird hand: 4 fetches, Underground Sea, Murktide Regent, Grafdigger's Cage. I cast turn one Grafdigger's Cage. Turn two, draw and cast ponder, Undercity Sewer surveiled Brainstorm into the graveyard to fuel a turn four 5/5 Murktide Regent.
Game Three
I kept a hand with Nihil Spellbomb, Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student, Brainstorm, and lands. Turn one, cast Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student. Turn two, cast Brainstorm and Nihil Spellbomb to exile the opponent's graveyard. A Tamiyo, Seasoned Scholar ultimate got the concession.
Tournament Record: 3-2
Round Six vs Energy
Game One
I Wastelanded my opponent's two lands. He failed to draw colored mana for like 6-7 turns, and Nethergoyfs did their job.
Game Two
After he played some dudes, I cleared them with Massacre and played a 7/7 Murktide Regent with double Force of Will back up.
Tournament Record: 4-2
This result was more than great for me. Not enough for Top 8, but the 8th seed was also 4-2, but with better breakers.
After Swiss, there was a lottery wheel with prizes from sponsors Cardmarket and Najadagames. I got lucky and won a great deckbox.
After six rounds against different decks, I will cut two Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student for two Bilbo, Thief in the Night. While not super impressed, a 2/2 body that can “replay” spells and discount escaped Nethergoyfs could be a nice addition. The deck felt slow at times despite being “Tempo.”
I will definitely participate in BBB IV next year. They also do Old School on Friday and Premodern on Saturday. It will be so much fun.
